the ride of our lives.

First of all I would like to congratulate you for initiating and organising such a colourful event. It’s AWESOME !!! SIMPLY AWESOME !! And the ride in W11 Tram is beyond expressing in words .

All I can say that I have never had such a vibrant ride in my whole life. I am from Karachi and have travelled frequently on buses in Karachi including the W11 route but W11 Tram ride was unique and wonderful.

The ride across the Melbourne CBD took only 30 minutes but left an impression impossible to erase. The decor of the tram was impeccable with Urdu calligraphy on the doors, Paranda hanging from side mirrors, glittering Jhalars on the tram ceiling with illustration of Nazuk Hasina drawn with colourful stickers on the window. The ambiance inside the Tram reflected true picture of a W11 minibus from Karachi with seat covers decorated with intricate designs, loud music of Noor Jehan’s popular songs and a collage of flickering lights and floral patterns clad in chamak patti. The topping of the cake was an Australian tram conductor chanting Kemari, Plaza, Jaama, Teenhatti, Lalookhet, New Karachi.
W11 Tram is a masterpiece in motion. It will not only win smiles for Pakistanis but will also be a source of delight for Australians and Melbournians in particular who have developed a knack for relishing diversity and multicultralism.
I have nothing to add further but have a message for those who haven't been on the W11 TRAM yet “Mate it’s a bloody ripper!

Brilliant decoration. So uplifting and joy-FULL. People in Australia DO appreciate such arts projects, no matter how philistine our governments may be. LONG LIVE THE KARACHI TRAM. Get rid of all that filthy advertising and let local and international ARTISTS decorate all our trams.
Thankyou Nusrat Iqbal, Muhammed Arshad, Muhammad Nadeem and Safdar Ali for your ART.

Loved it. Please keep it going. I met some really great people on W-11. I had a ball especially dancing with belly dancing girls! And music was great. Where can I get in touch with the girls?

Being on the tram made me smile, and seeing people dancing to the music and looking happy made me happy too. I wish the tram could stay forever in Melbourne.

IT WAS FUN FUN FUN AND FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN AND I AM PROUD TO BE PAKISTANI.THE BEST THING WAS PAKISTANI PUNJABI MUSIC THAT MADE EVERYONE DANCE & LAUGH. FLOWERS,POETRY, LIGHTS,BEADS,COLOURS REMIND ME OF BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES OF PAKISTANI BUSES.AUSTRALIANS ALSO ENJOYED THIS WORK OF ART. I WAS VERY EXCITED TO SEE THAT EVERY SINGLE PERSON HOLD HIS MOBILE PHONE CAMERA TO TAKE A SHOT.
I HOPE IN FUTURE, WE WILL SEE MORE EXCITING THINGS IN MELBOURNE FROM PAKISTANI CULTURE.

If Yarra Trams are interested in attracting passengers, they should make ALL of their trams available to local/international artists to be decorated like this. After riding this tram, I never want to ride an ordinary tram again!

I have been looking for this tram ever since I saw it on the news. Finally today, already arriving very late at work it apporached me...going in the wrong direction. I jumped in anyway. So beautiful, so much fun, such a great project. More of this please. Let's get advertising off the trams and bring back the artist trams projects. Am spreading the word with transport planners. Congratulations.

After hearing that there was a tram in Melbourne that had been converted into a replica of W-11 (Giyara), I was eager to have a look. When I finally did get a chance to see it - I was amazed and astonished! It has been 10 years since I left Karachi, Pakistan. When I sat in the tram with the music and decorations all around, it brought back many great memories. Thanks to all those involved in bringing a touch of Karachi to Melbourne. Bahut Bahut Shukreya!!!

What is that at the end of Flinders Street? An ambulance? All those flashing lights! As it gets closer I realise it's a tram. Spruiking for some product, no doubt. No it's not. What an extraordinary tram! What a wonderful reflection of the Pakistani people (hello to the boys at East Box Hill Cricket Club). All that colour, all that noise. It's not often one catches a tram and is truly transported.

I took my kids on a 'normal' tram the day after the tram launch. I was unable to get my son off the pole at the door and my daughter off the swinging straps. They have reclaimed the spaces they think are rightfully theirs.
All the world is their playground.

I feel envious... I missed that tram (and the ride of my life?) from Melbourne to Karachi and back...while I was looking for it I asked whether people had seen it: "No", "No - don't know what you're talking about", and then "Yeah! - I almost crashed into them, it looks amazing, I wish I was driving that one" - said one excited trammie, but he couldn't tell me where it was now...
