Jane and Gwenda manoeuvre through the inter-relationships of movement and settlement / travelling and dwelling. Both these academic researchers use their own life narratives to locate their work and make meaning of the pleasures and pains of migration. Along the way they mark out influences of globalisation in rural areas; the story of migration in Australia being politically pitched as both a success story and as a threat; and the impact of international students studying in Australia. A question that Jane is asking lingers: what is the relationship between the travel and ideas of academic researchers and the analysis employed by them?
