Two strangers talking are overheard by passengers travelling a lap of the city.
MARIE SIERRA + LAWRENCE HARVEY + CITY, SOUND, SPACE
Marie Sierra is Head of Sculpture & Spatial Practice at the Victorian College of the Arts, a member of the City of Melbourne Public Art and Cultural Affairs Committees, and an arts writer & former art critic for the Herald Sun whose own practice as an artist takes form as spatial, public and temporal interventions.
Lawrence Harvey is a sound designer and composer who leads the SIAL Sound Studios at RMIT University, develops large-scale electroacoustic works for concerts and installations, and undertakes sound-based studies in urban architecture, including the ‘CitySounds’ investigation into Melbourne’s soundscape.

} TRAM OVERBOARD journeys of performance {
departs 6.53pm Fridays from Federation Square
Guest artists perform improvised ways to travel whilst on a lap of the city.
BENT LEATHER BAND perform Percy Grainger’s 'Big Green Tram'
The Bent Leather Band (Stuart Favilla and Joanne Cannon) perform electro-acoustic music on spectacular and unusual leather instruments. Their work explores gestural control of sound and music, extended techniques for bassoon, experimental instruments, interactive and algorithmic composition for creative music making and very bent sounding music. Drawing upon Percy Grainger's ‘Free Music’ Joanne Cannon, one of Australia's leading bassoonists and experimental musicians, will showcase two remarkable Australian ‘Free’ music instruments, the serpentine bassoon and the contra monster, together with selected audio archives of Grainger's instruments, experiments and up late drinking song "The Big Green Tram".
